FS550 Touch Screen Film and Slide Scanner FAQs
General Questions
The FS550 supports multiple film and slide formats including:
- 135/126/110 slides (2″x2″)
- 110 slides (1″x1″)
- 135/126 color and B&W negatives
- 110 negatives
- 8mm and Super 8 film
Each format has a dedicated adapter and insert included in the box to ensure proper scanning.
The scanner accepts SD and SDHC cards with a maximum capacity of 256GB. A SD card has been pre-loaded in the scanner for your convenience. Important: SDXC cards are not compatible. The scanner has no built-in memory, so an SD card must be inserted before the device will operate. If your SD card isn’t recognized, you may need to format it using your computer (note: formatting will delete all existing files).
The FS550 offers two resolution options:
- 48M (48 megapixels) – approximately 5800 dpi for 135 film
- 64M (64 megapixels) – approximately 7000 dpi interpolated for 135 film
You can select your preferred resolution in the Capture Edit Mode menu.
Yes! Connect an HDMI cable (not included) from the scanner’s HDMI port to your TV’s HDMI input. When connected:
- The scanner’s LCD screen will turn off automatically
- Your scanned images will display on the TV screen in slideshow mode
- Make sure your TV is set to the correct HDMI input source
This error appears when:
- No SD card is inserted in the device
- The SD card isn’t properly seated (push until it clicks)
- The SD card format is incompatible (SDXC cards won’t work)
- The SD card isn’t properly formatted
Try removing and reinserting the card, ensuring it’s pushed in until you hear/feel a click. If the problem persists, try formatting the card on your computer or use a different SD/SDHC card.
The FS550 offers multiple adjustment options in Capture Edit Mode:
- Color Bias: Select from 5 white balance presets for different film types
- Color Hue: Multi-level manual adjustment for fine-tuning color
- Brightness: 8-level manual adjustment
- Contrast: 8-level manual adjustment
- Color Saturation: 8-level manual adjustment
Simply touch the respective icon on the screen and use the adjustment bar to get the perfect results before scanning.
Use the included cleaning brush to gently remove dust and debris from your films and slides before scanning. Ensure your media is clean and free of dirt for the best scan quality. The film/slide should not be bent, and you can manually adjust its position left or right to center it properly in the adapter.
