This scanner is specifically designed for scanning and digitizing old photos, enhancing images, creating and organizing in photo albums, and tagging photos for easy searching. It works on both Mac and Windows operating systems.
You can scan various types of photos, including prints, Polaroids, and photo paper of different sizes and finishes.
The Photo Scanner can scan photos sizes: 1” x 1” to 8.5” x 11”. The Photo Scanner can also accommodate panoramic photos up to 12” long.
The scanner is specifically designed for scanning and preserving the integrity of old photos. It accommodates only one photo in the feed tray at a time. However, it features an auto-scan mode in its software, allowing users to continuously insert photos into the tray without needing to manually initiate each scan.
It is recommended to use the carrier sheet when scanning old fragile or torn photos. This will ensure the photo is scanned without causing damage. You also may find it useful when scanning photos with a high glossy finish. This will allow the photo to pass through the roller and options without an issues.
The Photo Scanner is specifically designed to scan and enhance photos, however can support documents. Documents can be exported as PDF, however at this time with limited other functionality.
PictureStudio can export images in PDF, JPEG, PNG and BMP file formats.
To activate and start using PictureStudio, you will need to plug you scanner into your computer when prompted during set up. Once the software is activated, you can use PictureStudio without keeping the scanner connected.
Yes, to scan both sides you can hit the three dots next to the scan button. Enable by selecting 2-sided scanning from this menu. After scanning the first side, you will be prompted to scan the second side. Simply flip the photo over and place back into the feed tray. An image of backside of the photo will be saved to the file and visible by selecting the information icon above the photo in the canvas. You can also enable and/or disable this feature from the Settings menu.
Yes, if you go to the trash icon, you have the option to select which photos you want to restore. Once the photos are selected, select the “Restore” button at the bottom right and all of the selected photos will return to their original locations. You will not have the ability to restore photos that were permanently deleted from trash.rdion Content
On Windows, all of your photos are in a “PictureStudio” folder in your “Pictures” folder; On Mac, all of your photos can be found in Users/*user name*/Pictures/PictureStudio. In that folder, the photos in your inbox are in the “Inbox” folder, and all of the content in your albums are organized in the “Album” folder.
Compatibility
Yes, the scanner is compatible with both Mac and Windows operating systems.
The software requires Windows 10 or higher or Mac OS 11 or above; For optimal performance, it is recommended to have 8GB of RAM and 2GB of free disk space (excluding space for storing photos; and Internet access.
Scanning and Importing Photos
Simply place your photo face down with the top of the photo pointing down in the scanners paper tray. Open the scanner software, and click on the ‘Scan’ button. If auto-scan is enabled, the scanner will automatically detect the photo and begin scanning without touching the software application.
Yes, you can import photos from various sources such as USB drives, external hard drives, memory cards, and cloud storage services.
When scanning older photos with torn or frayed edges, we recommend placing them in the provider carrier sheet to protect the photo from additional damage. It is not recommended to scan photos with cardboard backing.
The default is PNG, however, you can select JPEG or BMP. You can change this selection from the Settings menu.
The Photo Scanner and PictureStudio software are compatible only with Windows and Mac operating systems. However you can view and share photos through various cloud services that can be configured in PictureStudio.
Enhancing Images
The software includes features like auto-enhancement, color restoration, red-eye removal, and sharpening tools to enhance the quality of your scanned images.
Yes, you can manually adjust exposure, brightness, contrast, saturation, and other settings to achieve the desired look.
The Colorization feature uses artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) to based analyze the photo and automatically infuse a color palette into grayscale photos.
Creating Albums and Organizing Photos
You can create photo albums by clicking the + icon above the inbox icon. You can also create albums by selecting the photos you want to include, then right-clicking and selecting an existing album or ‘Create Album’ from the menu. You can name the album and add descriptions as needed.
There is no specific limit to the number of photos you can add to an album, but it is recommended to keep albums manageable for easier browsing.
You can organize your photos by creating folders, adding tags, creating notes, and using the sorting and filtering options provided in the software.
Yes, you can configure PictureStudio to work with several services, including Google Drive, One Drive, iCloud (Mac), Dropbox, and Flickr. You can configure and enable these services from the Settings page.
Picture studio can be configured to work with several cloud services, including Google Drive, Dropbox, OneDrive, iCloud (Mac only), Flickr, Pintrest, and Facebook. Please keep on additional services becoming available.
You can select multiple photos by clicking the “Select” link directly above the images in the viewer. This will enable you to select multiple images before moving to a new album, sharing, or one of the several other features.
Tagging and Searching Photos
You can tag your photos by selecting a photo, clicking on the ‘Tag’ button located in the right menu, selecting people or objects and adding relevant keywords. Tags can include names, locations, and events.
The search feature allows you to find photos by typing in keywords from notes, tags, dates, or location (if added). The software will display all matching results based on your search query.
Maintenance and Performance
To ensure the highest image quality, calibrating the scanner ensures the image sensor achieves is properly aligned to deliver the highest performance.
Over time, the image sensor could shift and calibration is needed for realignment. We recommend calibrating every 3-6 months, depending on usage; or sooner if you notice lines or streaks in your photos, changes in contrast or color accuracy.
From the Settings menu, select “Calibrate” and following the provided instructions. Calibration sheets are in the Quick Start Guide, included with your scanner.
To clean the Photo Scanner please use the including cleaning sheet and micro fiber cloth. Please follow the cleaning instructions on our website.
Troubleshooting
Ensure that the scanner is properly connected to your computer via USB. Restart both the scanner and your computer. If the issue persists, contact our support team.
Ensure your computer meets the system requirements. Close other running applications to free up resources, and try scanning again. If the problem persists, reinstall the software.
First, in Settings check to see if reduce lines and streaks is enabled in settings if not enable that. If that doesn’t help check if anything is physically on the lens of the scanner. If there is nothing on the lens the next step would be to recalibrate the scanner using the black and white sheet that came with the scanner. Go to the settings section and hit the calibrate button. Follow the onscreen instructions and that should get rid of any line on the scans.
